the Long Island Free Press, March 6, 1971, page 1.
Liz: "I think I met
Gretchen Haynes, who was the editor, at some peace demonstrations. She was
from Westbury, and she started this wonderful newspaper in 1970. The office
was in her basement, and I used to work there. By eleventh grade I wasn’t
doing very much for the Long Island Free Press, although I did write
this story about hitchhiking." |
