Warning: might scare small children. A talking President Richard M. Nixon, reduced to serving as greeter at events such as ours, was waiting for you when you walked in, advising you to pick up your name tag "so you know who you are."

"Welcome to the 40-year reunion for the Jericho High School class of 1972 and friends," he rumbled. "Of course, Richard Nixon never really had any friends. Lotsa enemies, though! Kept a whole list of 'em. Although I prefer to think of them more as frenemies, as you kooky kids say nowadays ..."

Once the people-oids started arriving, the place got mad crazy,

ya'll. No chillaxin' for this crowd, yo! They bum-rushed the bar, gettin'

their buzz on with nonstop Jell-O shots and punching out perfect strangers.*

Okay, maybe it was a little more sedate than that. Early arrivals included (left to right) Neil Goldman, talking to Ira Katz, largely hidden behind Lee Silverstone, who's shown talking to Risa Sugarman Bellach. Behind them is Mark Albin, and at right, Sandy Cohen, Gerry Gaffen Alterbaum, and Caren Kushner Gottesman.

Jeffrey Putterman, making his first reunion appearance since the 30th (the one in the high school gym) with Jerry Dikowitz.

Nice photo of Dale Krakow Rothfeld with Alexis Weisman. Too

bad that Alexis probably won't see it until the next reunion, since

she goes computer free down in Atlanta. (In fact, she is the only

person to have received a hard-copy version of the 40-year-reunion invitation. A valuable collector's item!)

Eileen Marder-Mirman and Mindy Wertheimer. Eileen has been married since 1979 and has a very talented artist son, Josh; Mindy, of course, is married to Ira Katz. The couple, who went on their first date forty years ago this month, have two daughters.

Amy Lubow Downs and Sandy Cohen used to lived across the street from each other in East Birchwood. Sandy's family left Jericho for New Jersey after junior high school, so she was seeing some old friends for the first time in almost forty-five years.
