Who's Who,

What's What

Cheryl: "My sweet sixteen was a real big deal back then. My parents rented two Greyhound buses to take one hundred kids to the Concord Hotel in the Catskills for the weekend. A lot of crazy things happened. Mark Ratner got so drunk that he was throwing up on everything and everyone. Mitch Meyer threw a television out the window, which my father had to pay for. And that weekend was when I became an item with Steven Licata. That year we went to all the sweet sixteens  in matching outfits that he coordinated."

Mark Ratner: "The statement that 'Mark Ratner got so drunk that he was throwing up on everything ...'  is entirely false. First, I did not throw up 'on everything.' I actually only threw up on one well-dressed man in the hotel lobby. And, as I recall, for a complete stranger, he was remarkably understanding about his leisure suit.

"Second, the official explanation was 'viral gastroenteritis.' That's what I told my folks. You know, a '24-hour virus.' Eleven whiskey sours in 45 minutes had nothing to do with it ...

"Also, I actually opened the window for Mitch Meyer when he tossed the TV from the sixth floor. Much of the weekend is a blur, but I believe I do remember that.

"I'm hoping the website can be corrected, just in case my teenage children ever stumble upon it. As a physician and a father of two, I have a reputation to protect."

Cheryl's Sour Seventeen (1971)

< "This is a picture of my 'sour seventeen' at the American Legion Hall in Hicksville. Richie Siegel is sitting holding Gerry Gaffen. Debbie D’Amore is seated left, Gary Shevin is seated in the middle, and Linda Caputo is sitting next to him, but she’s blocked. Bob Ehrlich and Ellen Weinstein are sitting next to each other with their backs to the camera. And Sue Chattleton is sitting far right. Her face is blocked, but it’s her. Hope everyone gets a laugh out of this!"

< A bit hard to tell, but that's Cheryl top left, Ellen Weinstein top right, Sheryl Katz bottom left, and Marna Ludwig in the middle.
